Summer is quickly approaching and you may already be itching to change out some of the decor in your home to brighten up your space with the warming weather. We asked our Interior Design team of experts about the trends that they are seeing for Summer 2024 and the best ways to transition your home from spring to summer.

Design Trends for Summer 2024

The trends they are seeing already this year include warm wood tones mixed with dramatic blacks. You can see this design in our model home The Bourbon as it is filled with wood accents and bold black cabinets in the kitchen. As far as seating goes, woven or wicker seating is in this year and everything with a Mediterranean feel compliments this style of seating well. If you’d like your home to have a lighter feel or hope to lighten up some darker features in your home, Modern Coastal is trending this year with white and blue tones. Pastels, botanical designs, vintage accessories, and geometric shapes are also gaining in popularity.

How to Transition Your Outdoor Space for Summer

Once summer hits, you will likely want to spruce up your outdoor areas. It is the perfect time to BBQ outside and have a lovely meal in your backyard or sit on your porch in the evenings to watch the sunset. If you love the look of outdoor plants but unfortunately do not have a green thumb, a perfect DIY project is to use faux flowers or greenery in pots and spray them with UV protection to keep their look from fading. Of course, if you do have that green thumb, real flowers and plants are always a great look for summertime. Gnomes, flags, and other small accessories can make your entryway or backyard more welcoming for guests and put a smile on your face.

Give the Front Porch a Refresh with the Seasons

For your porch, you will want to focus on your front door as it is the entry to your beautiful home. Try painting it a new color or give it a refresh and hang a wreath or sign on the door. Don’t forget to add a welcome mat! If you have the space, create a cozy seating area with lights and plenty of foliage. Planter boxes are an easy way to add seasonal plants without sacrificing space. If your front porch is looking a little rough from the previous seasons, a quick way to clean it up is to use a pressure washer to get rid of any dust, dirt, and bugs.

Top Things to Change with the Seasons Inside Your Home

Inside the home, our experts gave us advice on the top things you should change with the seasons. They recommended changing your comforter to a lighter, more breathable fabric and even a brighter, more summery color. You could also change your towels, pillows, and shower curtains to coordinate. An easy and inexpensive way to change up the look of your home with the seasons is to change your dining table centerpieces and couch throw pillows and blankets. Changing up your art and knick-knacks with the seasons can also bring a fresh perspective to your home.
