Troy, Michigan – April 21, 2020 – The Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) recognized Skyline Champion as an industry leader with three 2020 MHI Excellence in Manufactured and Modular Home Design awards. These awards reflect the unparalleled homes, customer experiences and innovative solutions that Skyline Champion consistently brings to a competitive and dynamic market.
Skyline Champion earned 2020 MHI awards in the following categories:
Manufactured Home Design – Multi-Section
The Sequoia, a Skyline Champion Genesis® brand model built in Chandler, AZ, is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, multi-section ranch available in all major U.S. metro areas. Sequoia’s 1,459-square-foot open design begins with a generous foyer that provides views of the living room, dining room and kitchen. Large living room windows with mulled transoms and nine-foot ceilings provide a bright space with impressive outdoor views.
Sequoia is not your typical home — it was designed to meet the industry’s CrossMOD™ specifications that include upgraded cabinetry, a high energy efficiency rating and exterior features such as a garage, steeper roof pitch and front porch. In addition, Sequoia was designed for affordability and received high praise from Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson and thousands of builders at the 2020 International Builders Show.
Manufactured Home Design – Single-Section
The Sandcastle, a Homes of Merit® model built in Lake City, FL, is designed to offer all the creature comforts of a five-star beach resort. This 490-square-foot, one-bedroom, one-bath model (built to HUD standards) is distinctly elegant, without sacrificing utility or premier amenities. The home has vinyl plank flooring throughout, nine-foot ceilings and transom windows that offer plenty of natural light. Its Ultimate Kitchen Three™ features Whirlpool® stainless steel appliances and other cutting-edge amenities. The oversized bedroom fits a king size bed and offers two closets with decorative barn doors. Homeowners will love watching the sunset from the 134-square-foot porch with a built-in wood-burning fireplace.
Modular Housing Design
Built under the Skyline Champion Excel® brand in Liverpool, PA and installed in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, the sprawling 5,800 square-foot Portsmouth Pretty model offers stunning panoramic views of the Sakonnet River and illustrates the custom luxury possible with modular construction. This five-bedroom, four-bathroom home features two fireplaces, custom inlay flooring throughout and barrel-vaulted ceilings. The 2.5 story home contains marble countertops, tiled showers and a finished basement. The exterior includes cedar shingles, a two-car garage and 1,600 square feet of decks and porches.
“Skyline Champion is thrilled to receive these three MHI Excellence in Manufactured Housing awards, which would not have been possible without our industry-leading team of designers and builders, and input from our customers and suppliers,” said Mark Yost, President and CEO of Skyline Champion Corporation. “At Champion, we’re incredibly proud of our decades-long legacy of delivering extraordinary homes and service, and we’re committed to building on this legacy for years to come.”
